Well, not more than two weeks, but I am guessing that qualifies as an eternity to some of the readers (no names mentioned)! Understandably, the past few days have been very difficult. Losing the baby at 10 weeks, when everything had been going so perfect - pregnant at the very first try, high beta numbers and a strong heartbeat. Accepting that this baby is no more, well, it took some time. But I am starting to see things in a different light now. I will of course love this baby forever and it will never ever be forgotten. But I am coming to accept the fact that this was not meant to be.. while knowing that it WILL happen when the time is right. These things happen, it’s the hard reality of life. Hopefully it will make me stronger and the end of the journey will be an even bigger blessing.

So, what’s happening now?

What is for sure, is that I am moving on to new territory..... a brand new blog! Ta-daa. My newly created blog at Wordpress can be accessed here. More choices, better layouts and better security... and - a fresh start for a new journey.

See you on the other side! :-)Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-38393472052248948332008-01-03T22:29:00.000+01:002008-01-03T22:34:27.225+01:00Angel in HeavenI wish I never had to post this. 2008 was supposed to be the most amazing year of my life.

We would have been 10 weeks and 2 days today, but at the ultrasound there was no heartbeat.
I don't think it has dawned on me yet, but it probably will full force very soon.

I don't really know what else to say right now... I will try to update later.Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-7823865093716896972008-01-02T15:15:00.000+01:002008-01-02T15:17:30.956+01:00Week 10"Your baby is no longer an embryo! Though he's barely the size of a kumquat -- just an inch or so long, crown to bottom -- and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, he now has completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature. His vital organs -- the liver, kidney, intestines, brain, and lungs -- are now in place and starting to function. His liver continues to make blood cells, and the yolk sac, which previously supplied these cells, is no longer needed and begins to disappear. During the next three weeks, your baby's length will more than double to nearly 3 inches. His head is proportionately smaller now than it was a few weeks ago, but it's still almost half the length of his entire body.

His forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits high on his head; it will later recede to give him a more human appearance. Each day, more minute details -- including tiny fingernails, toenails, and peach-fuzz hair -- start to appear on his body. His fingers are now completely separated; his arms bend at the elbow and curve slightly; his hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart; his legs are lengthening; and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. He is busily swallowing amniotic fluid and kicking his legs."Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-44539256918297664502007-12-31T17:22:00.000+01:002007-12-31T17:27:26.506+01:00Happy New Year!Just wanted to share a photo of the beautiful Christmas gift from Sabrina and her family. Did I hear anyone say "jetlag"?!!)
My amazing surrogate has offered to accomodate me, which I have gladly accepted.

Now, I am used to BIG airplanes and I have traveled A LOT (my mom was a flight attendant/purser for 35 years) - but - the return flight from Oregon to Seattle has like a total of -9- seat rows.. :insert scary smiley here: Yes, I'm surprised you can even call it an airplane!! Basically, this means the little sweet pea has graduated from swimming embryo creature to a recognizable human being! This week in particular, the irises of the little eyes can function, but the eyelids remain fused shut for a while yet. The external ears are formed and the inner ears are now filled with fluid—so your little one is already developing their sense of balance. Your baby's little swimmer legs are still relatively, although other bodily developments are going forward at a nice pace: the kidney is actually functioning now!"Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-82886764714193047162007-12-24T15:48:00.001+01:002007-12-24T15:49:21.472+01:00Merry Christmas!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdS5PEnZfMPG0dSXE17p6x7-_1Xcmtw-VWwwYaL1tD9u_D1dJ70hygLoDO7xtI1JRzMnCHzvclEVv5TC0Ce_EqxTab-gWWscyMXOk-5yQg6X8pZBCkf3uUfchP_WUi47veG15eOHsmOLo/s400/061224_merrychristmas.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5147551604427074450" />Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-56109744816632864942007-12-21T00:25:00.000+01:002007-12-21T08:46:34.738+01:00Week 8 ultrasoundSabrina went in for her second ultrasound today. Baby is measuring at 8 weeks 1 day with a strong heartrate of 171. According to her the little one looks like a gummy bear and wiggled for a good portion of the ultrasound! She also got to hear the babys heartbeat!! Apparantly the Dr. was very impressed as he said he can hear maybe 10% of the babies at this young age. New u/s in two weeks, and the NT scan is scheduled for January 17th. Everything is looking perfect!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAy_6c57vRWBxhyhhckqTOuNwBH3v8i2rv_h9oGhodIHhAi-N1xzmCCOncFvXOC2UjxSFkodzckdD9tt2_YaiXjpus1x-v5cH2oK7Lecdtm4y8NKLw-w13nYY_52zGlTvPs5OGTCwlQoI/s400/December20th2007baby.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5146329364108815234" />Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-27749033606530545962007-12-19T12:05:00.000+01:002007-12-19T12:06:17.424+01:00Week 8"Your little embryo has finally reached the one-inch mark (30mm). And if it were possible to take a peek, you could actually see your tiny baby without a telescope! What’s more, your baby is finally starting to take on some very distinct human features. For starters, their little tail (really just the spinal cord) has disappeared completely. It’s nice to know your baby can no longer be mistaken for a sea creature! Additionally, both their toes and fingers are prominent with very little, if any, webbing. Upper and lower limbs all show recognizable joints (elbows and knees) and the lower limb bones are starting to ossify. But don’t expect your baby to resemble either parent quite yet. Right now, your baby’s head is disproportionately larger than the rest of their body--making up almost half of your little one’s height and weight!"Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-16126193115996057572007-12-12T12:47:00.000+01:002007-12-12T12:48:45.931+01:00Week 7"Your baby is really beginning to develop more physical definition this week – the oversized head isn’t just large and oblong anymore, it’s actually a little bit pointy. The tiny receding tail bud is now starting to be overshadowed by the growth of their legs, which are now complete with knees and the beginnings of toes. Their eyes and ears are the most visible features on their head and their miniature bones are starting to harden throughout their body. You also have some variation on a boy or a girl at this point, although their genitals won’t be visible enough to determine which color cigars you’re going to buy until around the 16th week."Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-83128218322596740812007-12-10T23:04:00.000+01:002007-12-11T21:48:57.566+01:00First ultrasound.....and we have a heartbeat!!!

Baby is looking great, everything is measuring well, heartbeat is strong and there is definitely only ONE in there!! *phew*! ;-)
I couldn't be happier !!!!!

Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-5581211479533677942007-12-09T14:42:00.000+01:002007-12-09T16:18:03.324+01:00Patiently Waiting...for tomorrows ultrasound.

Well I need to make myself occupied with something to avoid insanity (no pressure, Sabrina...! ;)

Here are some pictures from the process so far.

Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-23235306616324908042007-12-04T13:07:00.000+01:002007-12-04T13:14:14.975+01:00Week 6"This is going to be a busy week for your amazing little embryo. Their brain is still growing remarkably fast; miniature hand plates are starting to develop and the early formations of what will be their fingers are already visible. Also, the lower limbs do not develop quite as fast, so they’re pretty much still flippers. Up until this point, your baby has been very curled up with the head and tail in close proximity, but this week their trunk and neck are beginning to grow and straighten as their tail recedes into its resting position in the back. Even though your little miracle is only 6 weeks old, they’re already capable of demonstrating reflex responses to touch!"

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA8OhcR_4D3mqTwTc452cti5xFShGDEQBRUz2cF5gc0ZuEA1SYnyUgd64UxAxfN3nJxcbftUiD6KM38OTIa8MKsdhHV0frbfTpllK5JIMOXWYBf3SQjuO6osc5zdyFrQaujSOxToKjSpI/s200/f2.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5140089781473314994" />Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-49057132717157892752007-11-28T00:06:00.000+01:002007-11-28T01:03:06.741+01:00Week 5"You are now in week 5 of your pregnancy.

Your tiny baby is growing its brain right now and has exchanged limb buds for limb flippers. Your baby's also starting to develop digestive organs such as the liver and stomach while its tiny heart is already hard at work. Apparantly, VERY!!

Although ecstatic about the positive home pregnancy tests from this past weekend, its definitely been one LONG week. Today, finally, Sabrina went in to get her HCG levels checked. Everything over 100 is a good sign that there is a thriving little bean in there and that the pregnancy is developing as it should. Well, our number was a whopping

239.9 !!!!!!!

Which means that there is indeed a very healthy little eskimo in there! Rumours has it that the number could even qualify for twins (which would mean identicals, since we only transferred one embryo) but my guess is one happy, healthy and strong baby.

Ultrasound is December 10th. Also, it's Fathers Day in Norway today. That has to be a good sign, right?Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-77674044786829004152007-11-10T15:58:00.000+01:002007-11-10T16:02:47.976+01:00Thank You!What a great way to start the day! I woke up to these beautiful orchids on my door this morning.
Sabrina, you truly are amazing! Of the 10 eggs that fertilized, 8 are looking great! What a big relief! Can't wait for Sunday to come around... it's going to be one LONG weekend.

We have managed to get our friend Lynlee to fly in from Kansas to take care of Sabrina while she is on bedrest. She has had three successful transfers and I am really happy that she will be able to be there for Sabrina since I can't. Lynlee, I'm trusting you will take great care of her and keep her twitchiness to a minimum (well, at least for the first 24 hours ;-)Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4153526316482606771.post-38639226590306501462007-11-07T18:32:00.000+01:002007-11-07T18:39:24.374+01:00Fertilization reportA total of 15 eggs were retrieved yesterday, and out of those 10 fertilized!!! The embryos will be left to grow for the next few days until they reach the Blastocyst stage at day 5 in culture. I will probably know the quality of each embryo prior to the transfer on Sunday morning. With ten eggs fertilized I am crossing my fingers that there will be a decent number of high quality blasts to choose from.

I won't deny that I have been scaringly close to a nervous breakdown for the past two days (imagine me in the 2ww..), but now everyhting is just pure joy. What a happy, happy day!!!!Eskimohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05859513410288828706noreply@blogger.com3
